Forestville is a small and very alive community about 12 minutes northwest of Sebastopol. Its two-block downtown features a coffee shop, a pharmacy and gift shop, the Forestville Club, the Ideal Hardware store, restaurants, delis and a hair salon. Forestville children attend Forestville School, a unique country school with Kindergarten through 8th grade at one campus. Students then move on to El Molino High School, part of the West Sonoma County High School district. The town’s monthly newspaper, "West County Gazette", is bursting with stories about local sports, schools, arts, gardening, and political issues. The scenic Russian River rambles alongside River Road through Forestville's lush redwoods and forests. The Forestville Youth Park is at the center of the town, both literally and figuratively. Host to youth baseball and soccer and many community gatherings throughout the year, the Youth Park is managed by volunteers and supported by private donations and fundraising. Situated halfway between Petaluma to the south and Santa Rosa to the north, modern Rohnert Park and its historic next door neighbor Cotati are comfortably located right in the heart of activity in Sonoma County. The two are close enough to touch yet each retains its distinct personality.Each of the neighborhoods is connected by walking and biking paths to the lushly landscaped boulevards that provide thoroughfares throughout the city.
